Client Privacy Bill of Rights
JR Shelton Bookkeeping & Consulting Services, LLC
We are committed to protecting your privacy, securing your data, and upholding the highest standards of confidentiality. Our practices are governed by applicable federal and state privacy laws, IRS regulations (including IRC §7216), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the FTC Safeguards Rule, and applicable professional standards. Your trust is the foundation of our practice.
Right to Transparency
You have the right to know what personal information we collect — including contact, tax, payroll, financial, and identity verification data — and why we collect it. We collect only what is necessary to provide our services.
Right to Data Security
You have the right to reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. We maintain a written information security program appropriate to the size and nature of our business.
Right to Confidential Tax Information
Tax return information is protected under IRC §7216 and applicable regulations. We do not use tax return information for marketing, cross-selling, or any non-tax purpose. Written consent is required before any disclosure requiring taxpayer authorization.
Right to Access & Correction
You may request access to or correction of personal information we maintain about you, subject to applicable legal and professional recordkeeping requirements. Certain records may be retained as required by law.
Right to Limited Use & Disclosure
Your data is never sold, rented, or disclosed for marketing or unrelated commercial purposes. Information is shared only when legally required, necessary to provide services, or at your written direction.
Right to Secure Communication
You have the right to use our secure client portal for document exchange. We employ encryption, secure platforms, and verification procedures. We strongly recommend using the portal rather than standard email for sensitive documents.
Right to Breach Notification
If a security incident requires notification, we will provide notice as required by applicable law, including the Florida Information Protection Act and applicable federal requirements, and will coordinate with relevant service providers.
